User-generated content (UGC) sites and communities are two of my favourite places to find untapped keywords. If you don’t already have an account for Google Webmaster, make sure that you create one! You find high quality content on the Internet and then you compile the links on your own blog or website or on your social networking profiles. The day may come when links are less important to rankings, but that day hasn’t arrived yet.
Blog Commenting Is More Powerful Than You Think
Contrary to popular belief, social media doesn't have a direct relationship with your search rankings. However, it can have an indirect bearing on the success of your SEO campaign. Select a valuable blog post that was published a year or more ago but is still highly relevant to your business, industry, products, or services.
Better content is outweighing more content
When it comes to search engine optimisation the information available can be a minefield. Typically, pages with longer content about your product will have more opportunities to rank (of course there is the uniqueness and format of the content to consider, as well as its ability to answer questions and provide information), because they are able to explore the in-depth details of a topic and answer more search queries. You’ve launched your new website, ready to welcome crowds of new customers. But, if no-one finds your new website, how will they see what you have to offer? Diving straight into the internet without any clear game plan is time-wasting, dangerous and more often than not, a futile attempt to rank any website for maximum targeted traffic.
Think about link bait from the start
It is better to have your links spread out amongst a lot of domains with targeted, but diverse anchor text then it is to have a ton of backlinks from one domain. The more comprehensive and targeted your backlink profile is, the higher you will rank. Craft some content ideas (focusing on competitive keywords) and get in touch with the editors or the person who's responsible for guest contributions. Ask them if they’re interested in your content ideas. As touched upon before - backlinks are simply links from other websites directing viewers to your site. Search engines love these.
